The University of Alabama in Huntsville intends to create graduate degree programs (M.S. and Ph.D.) in Modeling & Simulation, with courses to begin in the Spring semester (January) 2010. Potential students, members of the community, and all interested parties are invited and encouraged to offer comments and recommendations for the program via an on-line survey.
Modeling and Simulation (M&S) is increasingly important in the modern technological world. Nearly all aspects of engineering and the physical sciences already depend on M&S, and M&S is steadily finding more use in economics, politics, and social science. Concurrently, M&S is emerging as a distinct, cross-cutting, interdisciplinary academic discipline, and successful M&S degree programs are already well established at the University of Central Florida (Orlando FL) and Old Dominion University (Norfolk VA). Modeling and simulation practitioners, researchers, and faculty are likewise needed in Huntsville and Alabama; the proposed UAHuntsville program will address that need.
Overview information on the proposed UAHuntsville program is available at the first link below. The on-line survey can be accessed at the second link. The survey will have from 6 to 14 questions, depending on the answers given, and should only take a few minutes to complete.
