Choose one of the four theorist we have discussed in class. Re-read their essay(s) and think about how their conception of the way computers can aid human communication might be implemented into a Web site. For example: How would a Licklider informative presentation, where the audience pulls down the information in which they are interested, be accomplished through a Web site? What would a Bush trailblazing Web site look like? How might an Engelbart Web site automate lower level functions so that we can concentrate on more important concepts when we communicate using the Web? How could we explore parallel documents with a Nelson Web? How could we model the interaction among students and the teacher with a Berners-Lee Web?
This assignment can be submitted in one of two ways. Method 1: Sketch out your ideas of how the pages on a site might look and then code a mock-up of your ideas with HTML. You may use the advanced features of Dreamweaver or Frontpage to achieve the result. Upload the site and send me a link to your web page. This is an excellent way to practice your coding. Method 2: if the idea requires techniques that you are currently unabe to code, you may use pen and paper and illustrate where links would be, what kind of text would be in the site and which Web pages would be connected. Be sure to draw several Web pages to give a sense for how the site as a whole might operate.
