Cosplay Contest

Interested in dressing up for ChargerCon?

You’ve come to the right place!
Cosplay will have two main events: the accuracy contest and the catwalk. The accuracy contest will be limited to Cosplayers who have mostly homemade costumes (i.e. no store-bought costumes, props, or other major, character-specific components). The Catwalk event welcomes anyone who wishes dress up, and allows all costumes.

What do I need to bring?

Costume and necessary materials, of course.
As you strut down the Catwalk during our presentation, your character’s image will be displayed. It is best to find the image that represents your character most before ChargerCon and bring it on a flashdrive, CD, or have a link to an online image to make sign-up easier. We will have a computer for Googling images, but last term, many people were disappointed at the selection and slowed down the sign up process while aimlessly digging through image searches. Both accuracy contestants and Catwalkers will require an image for the presentation. Kindly prepare an image in advance if possible.

What will the accuracy contest be judged on?

The accuracy contest will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Overall Cosplay: what the judges think about your cosplay in general.
  • Enthusiasm: get excited and make your character come to life!
  • Attention to detail
  • Handiness: this is based on the construction of your cosplay. Did you sew it? Is is well-assembled? Etc.
  • Creativity: this can be a variety of things. Did you use any intetesting materials? Was your cosplay obscure? Etc.

How much does it cost?

Cosplay is completely free! :)

Important notes

You will be handed the schedule when you sign up for both the accuracy contest and the catwalk. If you do not show up for the judging (accuracy contestants only), the catwalk, or do not provide an image or the necessary sign in information, you’ll be excluded from the presentation and the competition. Please be punctual and prepared so that our event will run smoothly!
