Junior | Senior
Senior Year - Fall
- Attend the Graduate and Professional School Day (check
with the Office of Career Services for exact date in October).
- Take graduate admissions examinations.
- Identify and talk with faculty and others to serve as
recommendations.
- Collect or have individuals mail recommendation letters.
- Ask your faculty advisor or other faculty member to review
you application essay.
- Send in your completed application packets and be sure
to keep copies of everything.
- Request registrar to mail official transcripts to graduate
programs. (A final transcript will usually be necessary
after you graduate.)
Senior Year-Spring
- Confirm with all schools that your application file is
complete. (You may need to follow up with a recommendation
or two.)
- Apply for financial aid.
- Visit all programs of acceptance, if possible, and evaluate
offers.
- Keep track of acceptances and rejections so you know
who you have and have not had a response.
- Once you have accepted an offer, be sure to send thank
you notes to everyone involved (especially those who wrote
letters of recommendation) for their support, assistance
and encouragement. Keep in touch with faculty.
- Finally, be sure to notify the schools you have declined
so that they can go to their waiting list.
