Education is the next section in the vast
majority of resumes. It begins with your most current and
works its way back. It would be written as follows.
BS in Chemistry Minor: Biology Expected: May 200x
The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Huntsville, AL
Overall GPA: 3.4/4.0
A general rule of thumb is to not include your GPA if your
overall average is below a 3.0. Many companies do not use
GPA in their selection criteria but most that do use a 3.0
as their cut off. Some people will say to put your GPA in
major if it is above a 3.0 and your overall is below a 3.0.
The problem with this is that it then brings up the issue
of your overall GPA when the employer most likely was not
concerned with it. Your overall GPA should match the GPA
on your transcript. You may also choose to include academic
honors in this section.
A section called Skills and Experience often comes after
the education section in a Functional Resume.
