History of UAH / Accreditation
The University of Alabama in Huntsville,
UAH, is a relatively young and unique university. Graduate
classes were first offered to the scientific community in
Huntsville in 1950, establishing a mutually beneficial relationship
between the University, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center
and the US Army Aviation and Missile Command.
* Master's level degree opportunities began in 1963 and
at the Baccalaureate level in 1964.
* 1964: UAH awards first master's degree
* 1968: First baccalaureate degrees awarded
* 1969: UAH become an independent, autonomous campus when the University of
Alabama Board of Trustees established the University of Alabama System.
* 1971: Doctoral programs added
* Enrollment is over 8,000 students including over 1,300 graduate students.

UAH is accredited by the Commission on Colleges
of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Accreditation in specific programs include:

* Computer Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB)
