The June 2013 UAH alumni event in Atlanta was a huge success! The evening consisted of beer tasting, trivia, and great conversation at Red Brick Brewing Company. Trivia did not seem to be our strong suit that evening but we all left with an awesome Red Brick souvenir glass that we purchased for beer sampling.
The newly formed Atlanta Alumni Regional Advisory Council’s six members suggested the location for the event. We would be thrilled to have more input for upcoming events and if anyone is interested in joining the Advisory Council please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To continue to receive the electronic invitations to our events, email email@example.com or like our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/UAH-Atlanta-Charger-Alumni-Chapter/.
For those of you who were unable to attend this event we hope to see you all out at the next one!

"On Monday, June 3, 2013 Nashville area alumni of UAHuntsville gathered at the trendy downtown restaurant Sambuca to socialize and meet administration of the university. With the help of the Alumni Association and the Nashville Regional Advisory Council, classes from 1976 to 2013 were in attendance to meet one another. The conversations ranged from the golden years of UAHuntsville to the future of our prestigious university. Conversations weren’t the only thing happening for area alumni, the food was impeccable as well. Offerings included seared tuna crust-inis, miniature chicken quesadillas, and stuffed tomatoes. Those of you who weren’t able to make it truly missed out on great conversations, food, and networking---but don’t fret, be on the lookout for our next event in the fall that’s guaranteed to top this one! Hope to see you there!"

"On June 15, the newly formed Birmingham Regional Advisory Council for UAH alumni hosted its first event. The event was held at the newly constructed Regions Field in the heart of downtown Birmingham which is home to the Birmingham Barons. As a recent graduate of the College of Science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2012, I was very honored to be a part of the council. I was very involved during my days of undergrad at UAHuntsviile being a part of the Student Government Association, Black Student Association, the Rho Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. I was even voted the 2008 UAHuntsville Homecoming King as a Junior. The Birmingham Regional Advisory Council is giving me the opportunity to continue the service I started years back while I was on UAHuntsville’s campus. The event at Regions park was just the beginning of what the Advisory Council has planned for the Alumni of Birmingham. Over 20 people attended, including Dr. E.J. Brophy, UAH Director of Athletics and Rachel Osby, Senior Director of Alumni Relations. A great ball game styled dinner was served as the attendees watched the game from the Executive Suite which overlooked the field. The atmosphere proved to be great for networking and mingling between the UAH Alum. There was a great range of classes represented there, including: 1982, 1992, 2003, 2006, 2011, and 2012. Unfortunately the Barons lost to the Jackson Generals, but the alumni had such a great time, the council has decided to return for another game. The Birmingham Alumni Advisory Council will host another night at Region’s Field on Saturday, August 3rd at 6pm for the game between the Birmingham Baron’s and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. All alumni are invited. If you missed out the first time, you definitely don’t want to miss it this time. Click here to register. We look forward to seeing you there!"

"This month Nashville was host to the first ever UAH Alumni event in the region. The event was held at the well-known local restaurant Sambuca in the city’s trendy and hip neighborhood just a few minutes south of downtown, affectionately called “the gulch.” Live music, delectable appetizers, and a speech by surprise attendee, UAH President, Dr. Robert Altenkirch framed the scene. The event was also host to Rachel Osby, Senior Director of Alumni Relations, as well as 12 additional alum, myself included, spanning classes from 1976 to 2012.
As part of the university’s expanding efforts to provide alumni support and continued opportunity, the Nashville Regional Advisory Council for UAH Alumni was established, and held its first meeting in March of this year. The council worked closely with Jennifer Brost, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, to provide planning and promotion for the June event. The committee is currently comprised of four charter members, including myself, and plans to begin hosting several local alumni events throughout the calendar year. As a recent UAH alumna, graduating in 2010, I was excited to hear of such an opportunity to support my alma mater and to be able to network with local UAH alum. I recently moved to the Nashville area and look forward to utilizing this opportunity to meet and connect with individuals who share a common thread. I am equally as enthused to help plan upcoming alumni events and be a part of the evolution and growth in UAH alumni relations.
The next UAH Alumni event is scheduled to be held in the upcoming month of September or October and will be sure to be another gregarious success. Updates will be sent out to all alumni via the Alumni Newsletter and email. Come join us and meet fellow Chargers and catch up with the latest news of UAH, including the addition of a greenway and starbucks coffee. We hope to see you there!"
