Peace on Earth

Mark your calendars for the season's biggest holiday event! Peace on Earth: A Gala Celebration of the Arts and Humanities is returning to the Von Braun Center Concert Hall on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

This family-friendly extravaganza, presented by the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), captures the spirit of the season with a selection of traditional holiday classics – and showcases the collaborative efforts of the city's arts organizations.

This year's gala will feature performances from the Department of Music's faculty and students as well as community partners including the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the Huntsville Community Chorus, the Huntsville Ballet, the First Baptist Church Mosaic Ringers, and Randolph School's Young Voices.

"Peace on Earth is no longer just the university's annual holiday spectacular," says Dr. David Ragsdale, Chair of the Department of Music. "It has become the city of Huntsville's signature, not-to-be-missed holiday event of the year!"

Audience members will also be treated to a special appearance by country music legend Lee Greenwood, who will be singing his popular hits "Wind Beneath My Wings," "God Bless the USA," and many more.

"As we go into rehearsals, we anticipate the magnificent sights and sounds that will thrill the audience in this wonderful collaboration," says Greenwood. "With a mix of Christmas, pop, and patriotic arrangements, we will present a performance not seen ever before."

And just like last year, Mayor Tommy Battle will be back for an encore performance of his hugely entertaining rendition of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

In short, it's an event you won't want to miss. Tickets are currently available at the Von Braun Center Box Office or online at Ticketmaster, with all proceeds from Peace on Earth going to benefit the College of Liberal Arts.
