Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the UAH Humanities Center, I would like to express our deepest sympathies with the people of Paris. In light of the violent events suffered there on Friday, Nov. 13, we have elected to postpone our event "The Real Possibilities of Fiction: A Symposium on the Thought of Alain Badiou," originally scheduled for November 23-24. Given Professor Badiou's prominence as a French public intellectual, it is essential that he remain in Paris both to mourn with his compatriots and to contribute to public discussions following in the wake of this tragedy. We aim to reschedule the symposium for early 2016.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eric D. Smith
