Foreign Language Major Combining language instruction with coursework in conversation, composition, literature, and culture, as well as an international cinema course and an internship (domestic or abroad), the major is comprised of twelve courses and is offered in French, German, Russian, and Spanish. Foreign Language Major Courses Foreign Language and International Trade Foreign Language majors interested in enhancing their preparation for a professional career in the global economy may enroll in the Foreign Language and International Trade program. This interdisciplinary Major combines one or more foreign languages with coursework in business and international politics. No minor is required for this program, although adding the global studies minor is an excellent option. Foreign Language and International Trade Courses (FLIT) Foreign Language Minor Foreign Language minors are offered in French, German, Russian, and Spanish. Foreign language majors are permitted to minor in a second foreign language. The Foreign Language Minor Program is comprised of eight courses. Foreign Language Minor Courses Minor in International Business Students in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences who are interested in pursuing a career in international business may wish to combine a foreign language major with a minor in international business through the College of Business Administration. Minor in International Business Courses Minor in Global Studies Foreign Language majors interested in pursuing a career with the US Government, Foreign Service, or other international organizations may wish to chose a minor drawn from several related disciplines with international focus, in lieu of a minor. Foreign Language Teacher Education and Certification Students seeking state teacher certification in elementary or secondary education may choose to pursue foreign language study.
