Biography

A graduate of UAH and UA Tuscaloosa, I have been around the UA system for 30 years. I am of Mexican-American descent with family throughout Mexico and Texas. I teach Introductory and Intermediate Spanish and I am the Coordinator of Internships for the Department of World Languages and Cultures. I have also accompanied groups of students on Study Abroad trips to Guanajuato, Mexico, Pamplona and Salamanca, Spain. I love Spain, my ancestral home, and hope to retire there some day. My goal as a Lecturer is to motivate students to be language fanatics, so that they become conversant in Spanish when they graduate, the key to this is to Study Abroad - which I encourage every language student to do.

As a student at UAH, I completed an internship in Barcelona and Salamanca, Spain. Now,, as coordinator of Internships for the Department of World Languages and Cultures, I manage internships for our current students, knowing that they will benefit from it as much as I did.
