Biography

Billy Bargetzi has been playing professionally for over 20 years all over the United States, the Caribbean, and in Europe. He currently performs with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Broadway Theater League, The Brass Band of Huntsville, and The Tuscaloosa Horns (with such artists as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The O'Jays, Bobby Vinton, and others). He has also performed with other local groups such as The Atlanta Jazz Orchestra, The Chattanooga Symphony, The Twickenham Winds, The Twickenham Brass, the Rocket City Jazz Orchestra, The Night Flight Big Band, and The Huntsville Community Chorus.

Billy attended The University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied with Dr. Marta Hofacre, and was in just about every musical ensemble on campus with a trombone in it - including the award-winning USM trombone group The Hub Bones. Billy then studied Jazz Trombone with John Moak, Scott Whitfield, Paul Weikle, and Dr. Marc Dickman at The University of North Florida, and played lead and solo trombone in the award-winning UNF Jazz Ensemble I, along with several smaller groups. While at UNF, Billy also performed extensively at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Billy was also a clinician for the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) in 1995.

As a teacher, Billy works with local schools and organizations doing masterclasses, and has a large studio of students- several of whom have placed very highly in the Alabama All-State Band and Orchestra system.
