Freshman Composition

There are two courses in the composition sequence. EH 101 (or 101S with 100S Studio, based on placement) are courses in which students read from a variety of genres of texts collected in Everything’s an Argument and then describe, respond, and argue about those genres and topics. Both the texts being read and the essays being written offer students practice in exploring and understanding the complex ways that arguments can be effectively constructed in their writing.

EH 102 is the second course in the sequence.  Your readings in this class will extend into the research sections of Everything’s an Argument as well as readings about a topic that your instructor has chosen.  The general class topic will offer you a springboard to engage in your own research on a more narrow version of the course readings.  The texts read and essays written in this class will offer you practice in conducting research--from asking a research questions to reporting your results.
