UAHuntsville Network: Campus Wireless Network

Currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and official guests of UAHuntsville may access the Campus Wireless Network in most buildings on campus. With the exception of portions of Southeast Campus Housing (SECH), the wireless network is not available in the residence halls, as the Residential Network (ResNet) already provides internet service for students living in campus housing.

Computer Compatibility

The wireless network is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP (Home and Pro), Windows Vista, and Apple Macintosh OS X operating systems. Linux and Windows 7 are not officially supported at this time, although many users of the two operating systems report being able to access the wireless network. TAG cannot guarantee the same results for all Linux and Windows 7 users. (NOTE: We will likely begin officially supporting Windows 7 during the Spring 2010 semester.)

Antivirus software is mandatory for all computers connected to the wireless network. Users who do not already have antivirus software installed on their computers can obtain a free copy of McAfee antivirus software from TAG.

Click here for more info on the McAfee antivirus software offered by TAG.

Login Name & Password

You will need to know your Charger ID username and password to log in to the wireless network.

If you do not know your Charger ID, search for your name in the online Directory. The entry for you in the Directory should list your official UAHuntsville email address. Your Charger ID username is everything to the left of the “@” symbol in your email address. The default Charger ID password is your first and last initials in lowercase followed by the last six digits of your “A” number. The password is case-sensitive.

Example Charger ID & Password
Name
John Z. Doe
University Email
jzd0099@uah.edu
"A" Number
A00012345
Charger ID

If you have forgotten your Charger ID password after changing it from the default setting, the TAG Help Desk can reset your password. To help guard against identity theft, all password reset requests must be made in person at the TAG Help Desk. A Charger Card or government-issued photo ID is required to confirm that the Charger ID being reset belongs to the person making the request.
