Overview of the i.t. solutions User Training and Information Office

The User Training and Information office, established in May of 1999, is responsible for providing training and documentation (both web-based and written) for systems and programs that are either managed by or supported through i.t. solutions.

The User Training initiative provides short skill building classes (one to three hours in length) intended to introduce participants to the software packages/ services they are likely to use during their employment at UAHuntsville. Examples include Microsoft Access 2003, Microsoft Excel 2003, Microsoft FrontPage 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft Word 2003, Faculty Web, Student Web,UAHuntsville Calendar Services and ChargerMail, just to mention a few.

Hands-on classes and workshops are provided, almost weekly, and are conducted at our Computer & Network Services training rooms and labs.

Lecture styled classes are offered in the library and other locations on campus.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are offered to UAHuntsville faculty and staff "free-of-charge."

We feel our training classes/workshops will provide you valuable skills that you'll be able to use both in your career and personally. They are not a professional certification.

If you are interested in obtaining professional certification, you should look into the programs offered by UAHuntsville's Division of Continuing Education (CE). CE offers several excellent programs, taught by industry recognized instructors, that you may wish to pursue. CE offers a number of "Continuing Education Credit" courses, which may address your special training needs or enable you to attain that professional certification you seek.

Most classes meet on the UAHuntsville campus at convenient times and cover a variety of popular topics.

These courses are offered at a 50% discount to UAHuntsville employees. Payment can be handled through a UAHuntsville budget transfer.

We encourage you to visit Continuing Education's web site or or contact them directly for more information.  They may be reached by telephone at (256) 824-6015 or 1-800-448-4035 or by email at info@cepo.conted.uah.edu.
