Helpful Hints From the TAG Help Desk

    1. The Technical Assistance Group (TAG) Help Desk is located on the first floor of the Salmon Library next to the Library's Reference Desk. We have personnel on hand to help you Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Phone help is available after hours for password resets only. Our phone number is (256) 824-3333.

    2. Wireless Guides are available at http://www.uah.edu/tag/wireless.html. They are also available at the Help Desk. You can have only one device registered for the wireless system at a time.

    3. ResNet Guides can be found at http://www.uah.edu/tag/resnet/pdf/ResNetQuickStart.pdf. They can also be found at the Help Desk and at the Front Desk of every housing building. You can have only one device registered in your dorm room at a time.

    4. Anti-virus protection is mandatory to use the UAHuntsville network. Not all anti-virus software works with our system. We suggest you come to the Help Desk and get a free anti-virus software download.

    5. Angel: You can log in to the Angel course management system from the UAHuntsville homepage (http://www.uah.edu/). Once you have logged in, you can click on the Angel 7.4 Quick Start Guide to read how to use this very important tool.

    6. VERY IMPORTANT: Two very important numbers/IDs for you to know are your full Banner ID (also known as your A-number) and your official UAHuntsville email address. The first part of the email address is your UID. You will need this UID to enter many of the programs/services found on the network. The default password for most programs/services is the first initial of your first name and the first initial of your last name, followed by the last six digits of your A-number. For example, John Doe's A-number is A00112233, so his password is jd112233. John Doe's middle name is Zinth, so his email is jzd0099@uah.edu, so his UID is jzd0099.

    7. Email address: You can find your official email address by going to the following URL: http://www.uah.edu/cgi-bin/dirread.cgi. If you have opted not to have your name placed in the directory, this option will not be available to you. (Note: The UAHuntsville email system might be changed soon, so please pay attention to any notices that might be sent out about the email system.) If you go to http://register.uah.edu, you will be required to use your full A-number, with the capital "A," and your password will be the mmddyy of your birthday (first entry only).

    8. Computer Use Policies! Don't violate these policies!
      General computer use: http://www.uah.edu/tag/generalpolicy.html.
      ResNet computer use: http://www.uah.edu/tag/resnet/resnetpolicy.html.
