TAG Help Desk

The Technical Assistance Group (TAG) Help Desk provides network and computer support to the UAHuntsville community. The TAG Help Desk is conveniently located at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the M. Louis Salmon Library.

TAG Help Desk Services for Students

The staff at the TAG Help Desk can assist UAHuntsville students with the following:

  • Wired and Wireless Network Access: The TAG Help Desk can assist you in properly configuring your laptop or desktop computer to connect to the campus-wide wireless network, the wired Campus Network, or the ResNet (Residential Network). We also offer downloadable Wireless Set-Up Guides for most operating systems.

  • Resolution of Login Issues: Our staff can reset passwords, look-up forgotten user IDs and passwords, and resolve other issues you may encounter when logging onto UAHuntsville computers and networks.

  • Problems with Laptop and Desktop Computer Systems: Our staff can also assist you with software-related issues affecting your laptop or desktop computer. Note: We cannot fix hardware problems on student-owned computers.

  • Free Anti-Virus Software: Free McAfee anti-virus software is available to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff through the TAG Help Desk. The license included with the software allows installation of the software on both university and student-owned Windows PCs. To obtain a copy of the McAfee software, either download it from the TAG website or visit the TAG Help Desk in the library.

TAG Help Desk Services for Faculty and Staff

In addition to the services listed above, the TAG Help Desk offers the following services for UAHuntsville faculty and staff:

  • Computer Hardware Maintenance: In addition to assisting with the resolution of software issues, the TAG Help Desk can carry out limited repair and maintenance of UAHuntsville-owned computer hardware.

  • Order Computer Parts and Software: TAG can order computer parts and software through the Campus Site License Program for installation on UAHuntsville-owned computers.

  • Software Installation: The TAG staff can install software on UAHuntsville-owned computers and assist faculty and staff with installation problems.
