UAH Calendar Server (Netscape / Oracle Calendar Server): calendar.uah.edu
TO BE
DISCONTINUED EARLY SPRING TERM 2008
The Netscape / Oracle Calendar Server or "Campus Calendar Server" will be replaced by a calendar function provided by the new Banner Luminis portal sometime the Spring term 2008. If you are a current user of the "Campus Calendar Server" don't worry, we aren't going to rip the rug out from under you. You may still request an account for yourself or your staff members, but you need to keep in mind that you will need to transition to the new system sometime after January 2008.
We think you'll like the new calendar features of Banner Luminis, but we did want to let you in on the news that we will be transitioning to that system early next year. More information on the new calendar system along with Banner Luminis will be provided as it is appropriate.
General Information (Campus Calendar Server):
Computer & Network Services provides online calendar services via Oracle Corporation's popular Calendar Server software.
This service should be particularly attractive to university employees who need to keep track of meeting times and other agenda related information. This service is available "free of charge" to UAH faculty and staff employees, although an user account and password are required in order to access the system. Oracle's Calendar Server is recognized as an industry leader and offers it's users 7/24 access to agenda information via a standard web browser or through their "FREE" calendar client software.
Requesting an Account on the UAH Calendar Server:
The account request process is simple. Simply send an email message to our Computer & Network Services Help Desk helpdesk@email.uah.edu and mention that you would like an account. Again accounts are limited to UAH faculty and staff employees and Student Assistants with their supervisor's approval. Be sure to include your full name, telephone number, department name, type of computer (Windows, Macintosh or UNIX) and your email address when you contact the help desk.
Once your account is established, normally taking one or two working days, an Computer & Network Services Field Service Technician will be dispatched by the Help Desk to install and configure the Netscape client software on your PC. To avoid any unnecessary delays, be sure to indicate a time that will be best to meet you at your office.
Whom should I contact if I experience problems accessing my Campus Calendar Server system account or cannot remember my Calendar account password?
Contact the Computer & Network Services Help Desk. In most cases they will be able to address your problem over the phone. They may be reached at 824.2639. If further research is required they will put you in contact with the appropriate Computer & Network Services personnel.
Can you reach the UAH Calendar Server through a web browser?
Sure. This is one of the major benefits of the Campus Calendar Server product. Of course the web browser client is not quite as colorful as the full featured Campus Calendar Server client software which is installed on your PC, but it does provide WWW access to your calendar information. Here is the web site address for the web browser version of the UAH Calendar Server if you have an existing UAH Calendar Server account and would like to give 'er a try... http://calendar.uah.edu/fcgi-bin/swc/lexacal.fcgi
