Definitions:

Financial Reporting System (FRS):  system used primarily for general or departmental accounting.

Budget Development System (BDS):  system primarily used by budget analysts in the preparation of yearly budgets.

Online Budget Statement Application:  application which produces both month-end and current balance statements.

Account Request Form:

It should be noted that user Accounts for BDS, FRS, and the Online Budget Statement application are now accepted and authorized through the Office of Budgets and Management Information located in Madison Hall room 108.  In the past, Computer & Network Services was the general point of contact for new account requests or questions regarding these three systems.  This is no longer the case.

Computer & Network Services still serves as the caretaker for the applications and manages the Bravo system which hosts these applications, but actual account requests for these services and questions pertaining to these systems should be directed to the Office of Budgets and Management Information.

A single account request form is used to apply for access to BDS, FRS and the Online Budget Statement application.  The account request process is easy, but you must be an employee of the university in order to receive an account.  (UAH Faculty or Staff).

Simply download the "FRS BUDGET ACCOUNT AND SCREEN ACCESS REQUEST FORM" to your PC (Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF versions are available below), and print it on your local printer.  

Complete the request form and return it to the...Office of Budgets and Management Information located in Madison Hall 108.  

Be sure to check all the appropriate boxes pertaining to services or applications you need access.  Don't forget to sign and date your request as well.

You will be notified (via a confirmation letter) once your account and access have been established.  Please allow 3-5 business days for processing.

If after 7 days you have not received your confirmation letter, please contact the Office of Budgets and Management Information at 824.6170 for assistance.

Software needed to connect to the BDS, FRS or Online Budget Statement applications:

You will need to have a telnet client capable of VT220 emulation installed on your system.  For your convenience we have included links to two telnet clients which are widely used on the UAH campus.  Both packages are available for use "free of charge" for use on UAH owned computer systems.

Windows 95/98 and NT systems:

The university maintains a site license for the popular WinQVT application.  WinQVT features VT220 emulation and is available free of charge for use on university owned computers.  The WinQVT application is pretty easy to install, but we recommend that you contact the Computer & Network Services Help Desk to schedule an appointment for the software's installation.  They can be reached by telephone at 824.2639 or by email at helpdesk@email.uah.edu 

Apple and Apple Macintosh systems:

If you are an Apple user NCSA has put together a really nice VT220 telnet package for you.  It is called "NCSA Telnet" and is available for download from their web site.

The "NCSA Telnet" application is pretty easy to install, but we recommend that you contact the Computer & Network Services Help Desk to schedule an appointment for the software's installation.  They can be reached by telephone at 824.2639 or by email at helpdesk@email.uah.edu  Be sure to mention that you are a Mac user when you contact our help desk to request the NCSA Telnet package.

Whom should I contact when I have problems with my BDS, FRS or Online Budget Statement application account?
