ChargerNet Overview
ChargerNet is a customizable Web portal that will revolutionize communication among UAHuntsville faculty, students, researchers and staff. A secure, online platform, ChargerNet will serve as the foundation for a fully digitalized campus by integrating the university’s Web-based services and resources into one location requiring only a single login. With easy and convenient access to secure information on the UAHuntsville network, including email, registration, calendars and course tools, ChargerNet will help users manage their academic lives more efficiently. ChargerNet is your key to a rich UAHuntsville experience. By making ChargerNet your first online stop of the day, you'll be able to take care of university business and take charge of your daily schedule. More importantly, you'll be part of UAHuntsville's thriving community.
ChargerNet is a tabbed Web portal designed around what individual users want and need. When you log in using your Charger ID from any computer on or off campus, you will have access to information organized into several tabs, all of which can be customized to put the information that’s important to you at your fingertips. Here’s a sample of the items that will be available:
The Welcome Tab includes personal announcements, campus announcements, campus event listings, ChargerMail access and a customized calendar.
The Tutorials Tab features a FAQ and provides links to channel guides breaking down what's available on the tabs.
The Library Tab provides links to the Salmon Library, the UAHuntsville library catalog and other library services.
The My Tab is a customizable tab. Entertainment, sports, and news channels are available.
The Student Tab provides easy access to the registration information and tools in Banner. Students will be able to register for classes, view their grades and email instructors. This tab will also include financial aid information and quick links to commonly used documents.
The Teaching Tab includes Banner, Angel, and FERPA links, as well as links to each University college.
The Employee Tab includes information and commonly used forms from the UAH Accounting Department, Human Resources and Business Services. It’s a one-stop source for vital employee information regarding benefits and staff development opportunities.
ChargerNet Calendar
The ChargerNet Calendar will give users the ability to manage school and course related calendars as well as group and personal calendars from any computer with Web access. Course calendars will be updated when students register for, drop or are assigned to be a teacher’s assistant for a class. While campus-wide information may automatically appear on the calendar, leaders of campus groups and organizations will be able to add events to group calendars. These group calendars can then be shared and viewed by all of the members of the organization.
The New Event button allows users to schedule activities like meetings for organizations. Users can also send email invitations to individuals from their Address Book or all the subscribers of a specific organization’s calendar. Users can request a confirmation from those invited to the event, determine if those invited have conflicting events scheduled on their calendars and specify a date and time to send out a reminder email to those invited.
The New Task button allows users to schedule individual activities such as appointments. This function may also be useful in scheduling important exams, essays and projects. Users can schedule a reminder to be emailed to themselves about individual activities.
ChargerNet Groups
ChargerNet isn’t all deadlines, forms and figures. Hosted by faculty members and student ambassadors, ChargerNet Groups are online communities for discussion and collaboration that will expand communication and engage participants across campus. Group members can read Group announcements, join discussions on the Group message board, chat online or access Group-related photographs, links and files. Group members also have access to the Group calendar and can email other Group members. Group leaders can post Group announcements that will appear on the Group homepage AND the personal announcements channel on the ChargerNet Home tab. A ChargerNet Group will be a great online meeting place for any organization, whether it’s an official university society or simply an online gathering of students, faculty or staff with a shared interest.
