Requesting an Administrative Account for the UAH Banner System

Banner System User Accounts - Access to Banner administrative systems is closely controlled and training is required before access will be granted.

At present UAH's Banner system is made up of the following modules:  Finance (which includes Purchasing, Inventory Control and Budgets), Financial Aid, Human Resources and Student.  Access to each module is approved/controlled by the appropriate university department responsible for that module.  For instance, Enrollment Services is responsible for the "Student" module.

FERPA Training:  Since all university employees are considered to be "University Officials", each employee must attend a basic training class pertaining to the Family Education and Right to Privacy Act (FERPA).  FERPA training is provided during the Human Resource department's new employee orientation, during New Faculty Orientation sessions coordinated by the Office of the Provost and selected academic departments and by appointment.  If you have student assistants or graduate teaching assistants in your department it is important that they too have FERPA training as they are considered "university officials".  Please contact the CNS Training unit to schedule training for any of your student employees.  They can be reached at cns-training@uah.edu

Banner Student Module

Account request and training for the Banner Student module is coordinated through the UAH Enrollment Services.  You must attend user training (which includes FERPA training) before you will be permitted to access the Student module.  Training for this module is scheduled and announced via the UAH Class Registration Server a service available 24/7.  Click here for more information in order to access that site.  Questions pertaining to the Student Module should be addressed to Charger Central at 824-7777.

TIP:  If you are a new part-time faculty member the classes you will need to attend are entitled "Banner Self-Service for Faculty and Advisors".  Staff Assistants who were recently employed by an academic department may want to attend one of these classes as well.  Check with your supervisor to see if this is the case. 

Banner Purchasing Application

Account request and training for the Banner Purchasing application is coordinated through the Business Services department.  You must attend user training (which includes FERPA training) before your will be permitted to access the Purchasing applications.   Training for this module is scheduled and announced via the UAH Class Registration Server a service available 24/7.  Click here for more information in order to access that site. 

TIP: UAH Employees, who prepare or approve requisitions should look for classes entitled either "Banner Purchasing Entry and Approval" or "Purchasing Approval in Self Service Banner" depending on the role of the employee in the purchasing process.  Questions pertaining to the Purchasing Application should be addressed to Ms. Keshia Askew or Mr. Terrence Haley of the Business Services department. 

Banner Finance Module

Account request and training for online budget statements is coordinated by the Office of Budgets and Management Information.  Contact Mr. Johnny Johnson, Ms. Candace Horch or Mr. Chih Loo for more information.  Training for Budget Development in Banner is by invitation only.  You will be contacted by the Office of Budgets and Management Information if you are identified as having this role.

Banner Human Resource Module

Training for this module is internal to Human Resources personnel.  No open classes are available or offered to the campus community at this time.

Banner Financial Aid Module

Training for this module is internal to Financial Aid personnel.  No open classes are available or offered to the campus community at this time.

Network drop request form:  For departmental use only.  Fill out and submit this form to CNS to request installation and activation of a new network  drop. Please note that a completed budget transfer request must accompany this form before the installation can be scheduled.

Campus Information System (info.uah.edu) account request process

Campus Information System (info.uah.edu) The Campus Information System is host to the UAH Home Page (http://www.uah.edu) and other campus related web sites.  Accounts are available "free-of-charge", but are limited to individuals who work on university sponsored web sites.  Examples include: departmental web sites, web sites for university colleges, and UAH sponsored student organizations.  A formal account request is not necessary at this time.  Individuals interested in requesting accounts should contact Mr. James McCullars at mccullarsj@email.uah.edu to discuss the purpose of their web site and to identify the primary contact for the site.  Student organizations should have their faculty advisor contact Mr. McCullars. It should be noted that it is the responsibility of the department or organization to create and maintain their web site.  Computer & Network Services only provides the computer resources to publish your site.
