Annual / Vacation Leave
It is the policy of the University to grant paid vacation leave to regular full-time staff employees and 12 month faculty members in recognition of their service and as a means of providing periods for rest and relaxation. Staff members earn vacation leave in proportion to their length of service as follows:
Eligible employees who are employed for 7 or more calendar days in any bi-weekly pay period accrue vacation & sick leave for that period.
Employees may take their vacation leave in 15 minute (quarter hour) increments without rounding to the next nearest hour.
Vacation leave must be approved by supervisory personnel prior to actual absences, except in emergency situations. Each department establishes standards regarding vacation leave requests and call-in procedures. Be certain to check your department's expectations and procedures.
The maximum number of vacation leave days that may be carried forward into the next employment year is the number of days earned in one year. Accrued vacation days in excess of maximum accrual will be converted to sick leave on October 1, annually.
Terminating employees are paid for unused accumulated vacation not to exceed the number of days earned in one year.
