The Grounds Department is responsible for the beautification of the entire UAH campus including a 6 acre lake.

The UAH campus is considered an arboretum in itself.  On the UAH grounds one can find approximately 300 different kinds of trees, many of which are labeled.  The grounds department maintains a green house with seasonal plants, and a container nursery where they grow trees and shrubs for the various landscaping jobs on campus.

When you are out on campus sometime please notice the flowers, shrubs and general landscape around the campus buildings. I think we have a great crew because the campus always looks good no matter what season it happens to be.

The grounds area is also responsible for campus solid waste disposal, the recycling of paper waste, oil, metals and yard waste materials.  At UAH the word grounds include streets and sidewalks as well. Annually, you will notice newly painted stripes on the roadways and freshly marked stripes in all the parking lots. This is just another part of Grounds maintenance.  In the winter months, if there is ice or snow, the Grounds crew will be out clearing roads and parking lots. If you would like to see what other services UAH's Grounds Management provides or if you would like to see some of the landscaping and trees on UAH's campus plus the employees that are responsible for our beautiful campus please check out the grounds site.
