Our faculty members are outstanding scholars. Some recent achievements:

When Professor Sarkis Baltaian is not playing the piano at Carnegie Hall, he is teaching music at UAHuntsville.

When Professor John Christy is not appearing on CNN or BBC, being quoted in the Washington Post or the New York Times, or sharing in the Nobel Peace Prize as a member of the International Panel on Climate Change, he is teaching Earth Systems Science at UAHuntsville.

Professors Vladimir Florinski and Gang Li who teach physics at UAHuntsville, both won NSF CAREER awards - the top national awards for young scientist and engineers.

When Professor Donna Herrin-Griffith is not leading the American Organization of Nursing Executives in Washington DC, she is teaching nursing at UAHuntsville.

UAHuntsville Professor Clarke Rountree, who teaches communication arts, received the Kohrs-Campbell Prize in rhetorical Criticism for his book: Judging the Supreme Court: Constructions of Motives in Bush vs. Gore. The prize is given once every two years to one professor in the USA.

UAHuntsville's Dean of Nursing, Fay Raines, is past-president of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

Jennifer Staton, a senior history major at UAHuntsville and English minor, won a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English and U.S. cultural studies in Germany.

Mary Crouch, a senior Spanish major with a minor in Global Studies at UAHuntsville, received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant for Colombia.

Joy Agee, a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences at UAHuntsville was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.

UAHuntsville student Ms. Laura Kehre was awarded the National Consortium for MASINT Research (NCMR) and the Defense Intelligence Agency scholarships.

UAHuntsville's concrete canoe team won first place in the southeastern U.S. competition for the 16th time. UAHuntsville has won five national championships, tied for the most in the nation.
