Clinical Assistant Professor of Economics and Director of the Center of Economic Education: Any Field
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin immediately and will remain open until the position is filled.
REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Economics and Information Systems is seeking an intellectually curious economist to join our faculty. While this is a non-tenure track appointment we plan to build a long-term relationship with the successful candidate. Appointment starts in the fall term of 2008.
UAH offers the best of both worlds: an intellectually active and well-published faculty and bright, motivated students to teach (our in-coming freshmen have the highest ACT scores in the state). We offer an extremely collegial faculty who regularly publish and socialize together. Cross disciplinary research is common, as intellectual curiosity knows no bounds. Our need in the classroom is for principles of economics, intermediate macro economics, and we will accommodate the wishes of a candidate who has a particular interest in teaching in another field. The College also offers Master’s degrees in business, accounting, and information technology.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will assume a leadership role in the establishment of a Center of Economic Education. This Center will be established under the auspices of the Alabama Council on Economic Education (ACEE). Its objective is to raise the quality of economic education in the K-12 school years. Thus, the Center Director will be interacting with K-12 teachers, giving them tools and ideas to improve their economic education. We encourage applications from women and minority candidates.
