WELCOME, SUSI 2011 FELLOWS!
On behalf of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville, or UAH), the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) wishes to welcome you to United States! We are pleased to be part of the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) - Azerbaijani Student Leaders on Civic Engagement program. We look forward to partnering with the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) in providing you with an excellent opportunity to learn about American civics and culture. We also bring you greetings from our SUSI Ambassadors, the corps of UAHuntsville students that will accompany you during your program, providing advice, cultural interpretation, and fun! The Ambassadors are all studying diverse topics, such as history and political science, and they will assist you in your study of the U.S. The Ambassadors are excited and curious to meet you!
Please check out the SUSI WELCOME NEWSLETTER, in which you will find tips to assist you in packing and planning for your trip, as well as information on what to expect from the program and from your stay in the United States. Before you arrive in the U.S., you will receive an invitation to join Groupsite, our online site for social networking and collaboration. There, you can ask staff and Ambassadors any questions you may have.
We know that we will all find this summer's Study of the U.S. Institute to be an amazing experience. We are excited about meeting you upon your arrival at the Huntsville International Airport and look forward to learning more about you and your culture. We think that you will enjoy your time here in "Rocket City"!
See you soon!
The OIPS Team: Dr. Pottegner, Julie, Anita, Kathleen, Dave, and Tammy
P.S.: Please direct questions about the program to the program staff on Groupsite or at oip.uah.edu.
