| | Mike Salekin signs with Reading Royals(7/26/2007)Former UAHuntsville defenseman Mike Salekin, ’07 B.S.B.A., marketing, has signed to play ice hockey for the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League. The Royals are an affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. Salekin, a 6-foot, 208-pound native of Salegar, B.C., led all defensemen in College Hockey America (CHA) with seven goals and 23 points in 34 games. He was selected to the CHA all-conference second team and the CHA all-tournament team. In the CHA tournament he scored the game-winning goal in the semifinals against Niagara. The Chargers beat Robert Morris in the finals and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time, where they lost in double-overtime to No. 1 ranked Notre Dame. A four-time UAH bronze scholar and a three-year member of the CHA all-academic team, Salekin, 21, led CHA defensemen in power play goals (8) and UAH in penalty minutes (80) in 34 games. |
