Business school leads UAH in bachelor’s degrees

(5/21/2007)

For the fourth consecutive year UAH’s business school has awarded more undergraduate degrees than any of the university’s other colleges — almost one quarter of the bachelor's degrees awarded at commencement ceremonies in December and May.

The business school had 210 candidates for B.S.B.A. degrees, including the largest group of management majors (60) to receive degrees since the early 1980s. UAH had 878 candidates for bachelor’s degrees during the 2006-2007 academic year.

The College of Engineering had the second largest group of bachelor’s degree graduates (202), but the largest total number of degrees awarded when the 114 M.S.E. and 19 Ph.D. degrees are included. The College of Administrative Science was second with 210 B.S.B.A. degrees and 44 master’s degrees.

About one third of those degrees were awarded at the university’s December commencement ceremony in Spragins Hall. It was UAH’s first fall graduation since 1994 and the first on-campus graduation ceremony since December 1986.

Business school graduates from outside of Alabama came from 14 other states and seven foreign countries: Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, India, Nepal, Nigeria and Scotland.
