Greek History at UAH

UAH Home

The history of the Greeks at UAH is relatively new compared to other universities. Less than 40 years old, the Greek society at UAH now consists of four IFC fraternities, two Panhellenic sororities, and four National Panhellenic groups. Greeks first arrived on campus with the establishment of Kappa Delta and Delta Zeta in January of 1977. Delta Chi became the first chartered fraternity at UAH in October of the same year. After Delta Chi came Pi Kappa Alpha in 1978, Alpha Tau Omega in 1979, and Sigma Nu in 1991.

Since then the groups have worked hard to expand and grow. They have established working Interfraternal and Panhellenic Councils on campus. This year, a culmination of 39 years of hard work has paid off with the addition of five Greek houses to UAH. Delta Chi, Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Delta, Delta Zeta, and Sigma Nu will all have houses for residing, meetings, and social functions.
