Jazz: A Multimedia History is a CD-ROM-based history of jazz in a book format designed for high school and college students. It has extensive historical information interspersed with many photos from the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies. The text is searchable, making this an extremely useful research tool. Written musical examples in the text can be played, but unfortunately this uses MIDI sound rather than original recordings. The highlight of the CD is the set of six vintage jazz video clips recorded between 1933 and 1959.
