Having a successful college experience is the first goal of students attending UAH and the goal of Delta Zeta ladies. In order to maintain academic good standing in the Lambda Kappa chapter, one must maintain a 2.5/4.0 grade point average (GPA). Executive and judicial board officers must maintain a 2.7/4.0 GPA.
Delta Zeta has initiated programs in order to motivate and encourage success in the classroom. Members attend study hours monthly, and activities and handouts are dispersed during weekly meetings with topics such as “study tips”. Incentive awards are given to members who have earned A’s on exams, and ladies earning a 4.0 GPA during the semester receive a pearl to wear on their badge.
The fall semester is an especially important time for our new members. Many activities for the new members are planned in order for them to feel at home and begin making memories. It is an especially busy time, and it is important to remain focused on the purpose of attending college—to learn. We encourage our new members to remain focused on school by giving them a study buddy—an older sister, preferably in the same major, to talk to and study with.
Remember, Delta Zeta is an organization that encourages leadership in a variety of ways. A good leader is one who has confidence, compassion, and determination. Delta Zeta offers a multitude of activities that allow young women to become confident and compassionate, but you will find that it is determination that will help you to achieve your academic goals. With the support of sisters, Delta Zeta provides you with the tools to achieve your success at UAH.
