UAH def. West Florida 30-21, 30-25, 30-20
The Lady Chargers knocked off a determined West Florida team 3-0 in their Gulf South Conference opener on Saturday.
Ellen LaFiore and Erin Denny led the way for UAH (9-3, 1-0) with 12 kills each. Meanwhile, Jane Baumgartner finished with 40 assists. As a team, the Lady Chargers also had 10 service aces.
UAH dominated the entire match, needed only a little over an hour to get the job done. After cruising in the first game 30-21, the Lady Chargers jumped out to a 24-13 lead in game two. However, using a flurry of aces, aided by the new rule that allows the ball to touch the net on the serve, West Florida fought back, pulling to within two at 27-25. But, the Lady Chargers got back untracked and pulled away with a 30-25 win.
The Lady Chargers finished the match strong, blowing by the Argonauts 30-20.
