Three Alabama-Huntsville volleyball players were named to the All-Gulf South Conference team in a release from the GSC on Wednesday.
Senior middle hitter Ellen LaFiore, senior outside hitter Lindsay Dunham and senior setter Jane Baumgartner earned spots on the All-GSC team. LaFiore was named to the first team, while Dunham and Baumgartner were placed on the second team.
LaFiore became the third player in Conference history to earn First Team honors four consecutive years (former teammate Becky Stitt, 1995-98, and North Alabama’s Ronda Price, 1996-99, were the first to achieve the feat).
This season, LaFiore led the Chargers to their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years while ranking second in the GSC in hitting percentage (.402) and third in kills per game (4.82). She is also second in the Conference in both career hitting percentage (.404) and kills (2,501, 49 shy of the record held by Price).
Baumgartner has averaged over 13 assists per match this season. She also had 44 service aces going into the South Central Region tournament. She will graduate as the Lady Chargers record holder for assists in a game which she set during the 2000 season. Dunham joins her teammate as a first-timer on the GSC postseason list. She is UAH's second leading scorer, averaging 3.05 kills per game.
