Montevallo flies past Lady Chargers...LaFiore named GSC Player of the Week

The UAH volleyball team's early season struggles continued Tuesday night as a much improved Montevallo Falcon team knocked off the Lady Chargers 15-6, 13-15, 15-8, 15-7.
The loss dropped the Lady Chargers to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the GSC. Meanwhile, Montevallo, perhaps the season's biggest surprise in the GSC East, improved to 14-2 and 4-0.
GSC Player of the Week Ellen LaFiore had 15 kills for the Lady Chargers, while Cathryn Sterling finished with 29 assists.

UAH middle hitter Ellen LaFiore was named GSC East volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending September 17.
LaFiore recorded 105 kills (5.26 kpg), 54 digs (2.70 dpg), 22 blocks (1.10 bpg), 10 service aces (0.50 spg) and a .373 hitting percentage as the Chargers went
2-3 (1-0 in GSC). She also earned All-Tournament honors at the Emporia State Tournament. In UAH’s four-game victory over Lincoln Memorial, LaFiore recorded her second 20-20 performance of the season, garnering 22 kills and 24 digs while registering a .438 hitting percentage.
