The Lady Charger volleyball team ran into some tough competition in its own invitational tournament. After splitting the first two matches of the UAH/Holiday Inn Classic on Friday, the Lady Chargers played a pair of heartstopping five-game matches.

In the first match, the Lady Chargers (2-2) came up short against Missouri Western State 3-2. UAH won the first game 15-12, but lost the next two games 15-9 and 15-8. The Lady Chargers battled back to force the rally game with a 15-13 win in the fourth game. However, the luck ran out in the fifth game as MWSC came away with a 17-15 win.

In the final match of the Classic, UAH jumped out and whipped Southern Indiana 15-8, 15-4. Then the wheels came off. USI came roaring back to win the next two games 17-15 and 15-8. In the deciding game, the Lady Chargers didn't want another marathon. UAH took home a 15-8 win the claim the match.

Ellen LaFiore paced the Lady Chargers with 41 kills on the day. She also had 37 digs. Lindsay Dunham and Melissa Feldman had 14 kills each and Erin Denny tallied 10.
