Lady Chargers lose pair at Emporia State tournament

The Lady Chargers had a rough opening day at the Emporia State tournament. The Lady Chargers lost both of their matches on Friday. Truman State (11-1) handed UAH its third loss of the season 15-3, 7-15, 15-3 and 15-4. Then, host Emporia State (9-4) added to the Lady Chargers' misery with a 5-15, 15-3, 17-15 and 15-10 victory.

The pair of setbacks dropped the Lady Chargers to 4-4 on the year. The Chargers will face Northwest Missouri State in their final match in the tournament on Saturday.

Despite the losses, several Lady Chargers had good outings. Ellen LaFiore finished the day with 41 kills. She also had 12 digs and Emporia State. Jane Baumgartner piled up 95 assists on the day. Melissa Feldman had 12 kills against Emporia State and 10 digs in the match against Truman State. And, rounding out the superlatives, Cathryn Sterling had 36 digs on the day and 11 assists against Truman State.
