UAH out slugs Christian Brothers
Antoine Bell, UAH Sports Information

The Lady Charger volleyball team usually found a match against Christian Brothers quick and rather painless. However, the latest trip to Memphis, Tenn. was anything but. The Lady Chargers ran into a game Lady Buccaneer squad that refused to go down without a fight.

In a war that raged close to two hours, UAH knocked off CBU 3-1 in nonconference action at De LaSalle Gymnasium. The Lady Chargers improved to 4-2, while Christian Brothers dipped to 2-3.

The Lady Chargers won the first two games in the match 15-10 and 15-11. However, the Lady Buccaneers fought back to win game three 15-13. In the match clincher, the Lady Chargers managed only 9 kills, but it was enough to win the game 15-4.

The Lady Chargers piled up 15 service aces in the match. Cathryn Sterling had 7 of the aces to go along with her team high 16 digs. Ellen LaFiore did her usual damage leading the UAH scoring attack with 20 kills. Jane Baumgartner finished the match with 45 assists, while Melissa Feldman had 14 digs and Erin Denny tallied 12.

The Lady Chargers will be on the road on Friday and Saturday at the Emporia State University tournament, before returning home for their Gulf South Conference opener against Lincoln Memorial on Sunday afternoon.
