The UAH volleyballers split their first two matches of the 2000 season on Friday in the Holiday Inn Classic at Spragins Hall. UAH lost the opener to Arkansas Tech 15-3, 15-12 and 15-7, but rebounded to knock off Missouri Southern State 9-15, 15-6, 15-5, 15-10, powered by 16 service aces.

Ellen LaFiore had 25 kills on the day to lead the Lady Chargers. Cathryn Sterling finished with 17 kills and 22 digs.

The tournament continues on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The Lady Chargers take the floor at 3 p.m. against Missouri Western State. The Classic concludes Saturday night at 7 p.m. with UAH facing Southern Indiana.
