The Lady Chargers will open the 2000 season by hosting the annual UAH/Holiday Inn-Space Center Invitational Tournament at Spragins Hall on September 1st and 2nd. Eleven teams will participate in the two day volleyball event including Gulf South Conference West Champion Arkansas Tech, who defeated the Lady Chargers in last year's semifinals of the GSC Tournament. Also participating from the GSC will be Lincoln Memorial, Central Arkansas, Valdosta State and Montevallo. Three Missouri schools will be traveling east to take part in the two day event. Northwest Missouri State will appear in the tournament again and will be joined by Missouri Western St and Missouri Southern St. Rounding out the field will be St. Leo and the University of Southern Indiana, both participants in the tournament last year.

There will be action on two courts starting at 9:00 AM both mornings. The tournament will open with St. Leo taking on Montevallo and Missouri Western State taking on Central Arkansas on Friday morning. The Lady Chargers will open their season when they take on Arkansas Tech at 11:00 AM. The tournament concludes on Saturday evening when UAH takes on Southern Indiana at 7:00 PM.
