Lady Chargers fight off determined Argos

West Florida has the youngest, most inexperienced team in the Gulf South Conference, but on Friday night, they showed a lot of spunk. The Lady Argonauts pushed the UAH volleyballers a bit harder than expected, however the Lady Chargers came away with a 15-9, 15-3, 15-8 sweep.

The win clinches the Lady Chargers a spot in next weekend's Gulf South Conference tournament in Florence, AL.

Lindsay Dunham led the UAH attack with 15 kills and 12 digs. Ellen LaFiore had 14 kills, while Erin Denny smacked home 13 and Melissa Feldman 10. Jane Baumgartner had a steady evening with 53 assists and 12 digs.

The Lady Chargers will play their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon against West Georgia.

Lady Chargers bag the Tigers

The West Alabama Lady Tigers put up a fierce battle on its home floor, but the Lady Charger spikers came out with their second consecutive match sweep. UAH won 15-8, 15-11 and 15-13, improving to 19-13 overall and 9-5 in the Gulf South Conference. West Alabama fell to 13-19 and 6-10.

Ellen LaFiore had 13 kills and 7 blocks to lead the Lady Chargers. Lindsay Dunham added 12 kills, while Jane Baumgartner finished with 42 assists.
