Lady Chargers give MUW the Blues
Antoine Bell, UAH Sports Information

The Lady Chargers got of the deck to beat the Mississippi University for Women 15-8, 15-13 and 15-12 on the road on Tuesday night. The win stopped a two game losing skid for UAH, now 7-8 and 3-3.

It took a monster performance from Ellen LaFiore and the return of starting setter Jane Baumgartner to get the Lady Chargers back on track. LaFiore sliced the Blues for 23 kills. She just missed a 20-20 match, finishing with 18 digs. Baumgartner got finally got back into action after missing the last few matches with a wrist injury. She dished out 54 assists.

Erin Denny had 11 kills, while Ashley Otwell tallied 13 digs and Cathryn Sterling 11.

The UAH defense was sufficating, allowing only 44 kills. Meanwhile, the Lady Chargers collected 64 kills. The only place where the Lady Chargers showed vunerability was on the serve. The Blues had 11 aces on the evening.

Tuesday's win gives the Lady Chargers a shot in the arm going into a tough road trip this weekend at the Central Missouri State University Invitational. The Lady Chargers return home for a Gulf South Conference match against Montevallo on Tuesday, October 10 at Spragins Hall. The Falcons beat the Lady Chargers in the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season.
