Antoine Bell, UAH Sports Information
Carrollton, GA - The Lady Chargers built up a bit of steam for the upcoming weekend's tough schedule with a 3-0 victory over West Georgia. With the win, the team's third straight, the Lady Chargers moved another step closer to locking up a spot in the 2000 Gulf South Conference tournament.
UAH improved to 16-11 and 7-4 in the GSC, while West Georgia tumbled to 6-20 and 0-9.
Junior middle hitter Ellen LaFiore led the Lady Chargers with 12 kills, and Lindsay Dunham chipped in 10. Jane Baumgartner finished the game with 39 assists.
The Lady Chargers will need all of the momentum they can get going into the weekend. Looming on the horizon are three very tough opponents. UAH visits No. 17 North Alabama on Thursday night (7 p.m). Then on Friday (4 p.m.), the Lady Chargers return to Florence for battle with No. 18 Truman State. The Lady Chargers round out the rugged swing with rematch against No. 22 Central Missouri State at Spragins Hall on Saturday. The UAH-Truman State match has been moved up to start at noon. The original scheduled game time was 1 p.m.
The Lady Chargers have already faced all three of the teams this season. The Lady Chargers lost to UNA and Truman State, but upset Central Missouri State in its invitational tournament earlier this month.
