
Lady Chargers win 3-of-4 at Lady Reddie Classic...Taube gets 200th victory

The Lady Chargers continued to improve after a rough start to the 2000 season, winning 3-of-4 matches at the Henderson State Lady Reddies Volleyball Classic in Arkadelphia, AR. In the process, UAH volleyball coach Laura Taube picked up her 200th career victory.
After falling to Arkansas Tech in their first match in the Classic, the Lady Chargers came back to win the next three in a row. UAH survived a toe-to-toe battle with Washburn University 15-12, 21-19, 15-17 and 15-8 on Friday night. Then, early Saturday, the Lady Chargers beat the host Lady Reddies 8-15, 15-8, 6-15, 18-16, and 15-11. In the final match, the Lady Chargers cruised past Pittsburgh State 15-3, 15-5, and 15-10.
The Lady Chargers (13-10) were paced by leading scorer Ellen LaFiore who piled up 88 kills in the tournament. Jane Baumgartner had 194 assists in the four matches, averaging 12.9 per game.
The Lady Chargers get back to Gulf South Conference competition on the road Tuesday at Lincoln Memorial. Each match is crucial for the Lady Chargers who are sitting in third place in the GSC East.
