Things got a bit nerve-racking for a while, but the Lady Charger track team eventually pulled away, winning the eight team UAH Invitational, co-hosted by Alabama A&M University. The Chargers finished with 150 points, with Harding coming in second with 108 points. Bevill State came in third with 76 points, co-host Alabama A&M fourth (68) and Alabama State fifth (58).

Individually, Bristol Hartlage won the discus throw with a school record distance of 109-11. She also picked up eight points in the javelin, finishing second with a school record distance of 102-05.50. Hartlage buried her old record with stood at 97-06.

The Lady Chargers also loaded up on points in the high jump finishing second through fourth. Lauren Bussey and Bethany Holder tied for second, clearing 5-02 and earning seven points each. Melinda Phillips grabbed four points with her fourth place finish.

UAH nearly took first place in the 4x400 meter relay, but was edged out by six tenths of a second by Alabama A&M. In addition, the 4x100 meter relay team set a UAH record, eclipsing the old mark by nearly a second.

Coach David Cain was pleased with the overall performance of his Lady Chargers. "This was a very important meet for us to win," he said. "It was close there for a while, but we did a good job of pulling away late."
