The Lady Chargers finished the 2002 season as a team with another quality preformance at the Butler Twilight Invitational in Indianapolis, IN. Five more school records were set and Amy Phillips all but sealed up a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Phillips improved her record time in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing fourth with a NCAA provisional time of 11:10.84. Candace Chambers also has an outside shot at a spot at the national championships after breaking the UAH record in the 10K with a time of 37:29.74.
LaMardra Moore and Easter Grant broke individual records, while the 4x400 meter relay team (LaDasha Tompkins, Lesley Davis, Easter Grant and Melinda Phillips) improved on their school record mark. Grant improved on her 200 meter dash record, running a time of 26.45, while Moore outdistanced her own record in the long jump with a distance of 5.36 meters.
