Sophomore Amy Phillips headlined another outstanding outing for the Lady Charger track team. Phillips topped the field in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:37.51, which is just eight seconds shy of the NCAA National qualifying time. She also became the first UAH athlete to participate in the event.
The Lady Charger Mile Relay team of LaDasha Tompkins, Lesley Davis, Easter Grant and Melinda Phillips also took first place beating Lipscomb University head-to-head with a school record time of 4:13.59.
Four UAH runners finished in the top ten in the 5000 meter run. Candace Chambers led the pack finishing second with a time of 18:27.56. Aytree Blalock came in fourth (18:38.80), Natalie Fahey sixth (18:56.71) and Rachel Robinson 10th (19:50.49). Meanwhile, Grant and Tompkins also had top five finishes in their respective events. Tompkins finished fourth in the 400 meter dash, while Grant came in fifth in the 200 meters. Freshman LaMardra Moore came in second in the long jump with a distance of 5.11 meters.
