Blalock and Medley Relay team highlight Lady Chargers' weekend at Alabama Relays

Senior runner Aytree Blalock and the Lady Charger Distance Medley Team turned a few heads at the Alabama Relays over the weekend. Blalock finished third in the 10,000 meter race with a time of 38:21.64. It was the first time in Blalock's career that she had run the 10,000 meters.

Meanwhile, women's distance medley relay team set a new UAH record, blowing away the old mark by 23.13 seconds. The team, which includes Amy Phillips (1200 meter), Amber Shahan (400 meter), Melinda Phillips (800 meter) and Blalock (1600 meter), finished ninth overall with a time of 12:52.40. The old UAH record was 13:15.53.

Other notable performances:

Ashley Whatley finished 11th in the 10,000 meter run with a personal best time of 41:14.54.

Amy Phillips also ran a personal best time of 11:01.00 in the 3,000 to finish 24th.

Candace Chambers finished 24th in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 19:19.84, while Rachel Robinson came in 30th with a personal record time of 20:37.85.
