Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The fourth time proved to be the charm as the Alabama-Huntsville hockey team earned Head Coach Doug Ross his 500th win of his career snapping a three-game skid with a 7-2 victory over homestanding Robert Morris in a College Hockey America battle on Saturday night in Pittsburgh, Pa.

In his 25th season behind the Charger bench, Ross is among the all-time leaders in wins and winning percentage in college hockey. With Saturday night's win over the Colonials, Ross' all-time career mark moved to 500-292-43.

Robert Morris came out strong in the contest and Aaron Clarke gave the home team an early 1-0 lead just under eight minutes into the game. The Chargers would bounce back and finish out the first period strong. Senior captain defenseman Shaun Arvai (West Lorne, Ontario) scored an equalizer at 17:14 from fellow senior David Nimmo (St. Albert, Alberta) to make it 1-1 before freshman Brandon Roshko (Hamilton, Ontario) put home his second score of the season with 48 seconds remaining in the first.

The Colonials quickly tied it up in the second frame with a power-play tally from Ryan Cruthers at 1:22 after UAH's Mike Salekin (Castlegar, British Columbia) was whistled for high sticking. The senior quickly made amends for his penalty just over three minutes later with a power-play goal from fellow senior Grant Selinger (Regina, Saskatchewan) to give UAH a lead they would never relinquish. The Charger power-play unit would again make RMU pay for their sins at 10:03 of the second when rookie Kevin Morrison (Mississauga, Ontario) scored with help from Brett McConnachie (Ajax, Ontario) and Arvai.

The third period belonged to the Chargers as UAH put home a much-needed insurance measure at 8:45 of the stanza when Roshko scored his second of the night from Matt Sweazey (Toronto, Ontario) and Dominik Rozman (Wallaceburg, Ontario). Seniors Steve Canter (St. Louis) and Nimmo then combined for a pair of goals in a 16-second span in the final three minutes of action to round out the scoring.

Senior netminder Marc Narduzzi (Vancouver, British Columbia) picked up the win in net stopping all 21 shots he faced after coming on in relief of sophomore goalie Jordan Erickson (Port McNeil, British Columbia), who started the contest. RMU's Christian Boucher took the loss for the Colonials allowing four Charger goals before being relieved by Joe Tuset. With the win, UAH improves to 3-8-1 overall and 2-4-0 in the CHA while RMU drops to 4-6-0 and 3-3-0 in league play.

After a weekend off from action for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Chargers return home taking on Ivy League foe Princeton at the Von Braun Center on Dec. 1st and 2nd. Great seats are still available as the Tigers make their first ever trip to Huntsville.

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- Surrendering a pair of third-period goals on only four shots, the Alabama-Huntsville hockey team fell on the road 4-3 to homestanding Robert Morris in a Friday-night College Hockey America contest in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Colonials drew first blood in the contest just over five minutes in when Jeff Gilbert put a power-play tally past Chargers sophomore netminder Jordan Erickson (Port McNeil, British Columbia). UAH went on to even the score up less than four minutes later when sophomore center Kevin Galerno (Kitchener, Ontario) ruined Christian Boucher's shutout hopes for RMU at 9:12 of the first period.

A pair of 5-on-3 power plays led to the game's third and fourth goals as RMU's Doug Conley scored one for the Colonials at 11:17 before Scott Kalinchuk (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) scored with the two-man advantage for the Chargers at 16:14 from Shaun Arvai (West Lorne, Ontario) and Grant Selinger (Regina, Saskatchewan)

. The Chargers then made the Colonials pay for another infraction in the second period when Selinger netted his fifth power-play measure of the season from Arvai and David Nimmo (St. Albert, Alberta) at 6:57 of the second for a 3-2 UAH lead.

The final stanza saw the Charger defense hold the Colonial offense to only four shots in the frame but those four shots would be enough as Robert Morris put two of the four past Erickson. RMU's Chris Margott knotted the game at three at 10:03 of the third before David Boguslawski put home the game-winner at 12:13.

With the loss, UAH's record drops to 2-8-1 overall and 1-4-0 in league play while RMU improves their mark to 4-5-0 and 3-2-0 in the CHA. Erickson took the loss in net for UAH with an 18 save night while Boucher earned his fourth win of the season with a 38-save effort.

The two squads hit the ice again on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. in the second of six regular-season contests between the two clubs.
