Byrne named Defensive Player of the Week in CHA

Following an outstanding weekend between the pipes, goalie Mark Byrne has been named College Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week.
The 5-10, 170-pound sophomore from Nepean, Ont., made 51 saves in a weekend shutout of Bowling Green State University. On Friday night, Byrne stopped 25 shots in a 3-0 victory over the Falcons. Then he topped that with 26 saves in a 2-0 victory on Saturday night. The shutouts were the second and third of his career. He was honored with the number one star of the game on Saturday night and the second star of the game Friday night.
