Head Coach Lowell Mooneyham


After serving as the University of Alabama in Huntsville's top assistant for two seasons, Lowell Mooneyham was selected to take over the reigns of the Charger program becoming the third coach in the history of the program.

Having been a part of the UAH baseball program since its inception in 1996, Mooneyham was a member of the first Charger team to make a trip to the NCAA tournament in 1998. Mooneyham joined the team in 1996 working as a manager for the team before suiting up for the 1997 squad. Seeing action primarily as a designated hitter, he led the team in hitting during the 1998 season.

A native of Bridgeton, N.J., Mooneyham stayed on with the UAH program as a student and graduate assistant until 2002 when he joined the full-time staff as the top assistant coach for the Chargers. The primary recruiter for the program as an assistant, Mooneyham also served as the team's hitting coach and camp coordinator.

A 2000 graduate of UAH with a degree in History, Mooneyham is married to the former Ms. Melani Trexler of Allentown, Pa. A resident of Huntsville, Mooneyham is the proud father of son Dalton Lowell.

Assistant Coach Hunter Royer


Following a three-year stint at Gulf South Conference East Division foe West Alabama, Hunter Royer joins the University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball coaching staff as the Chargers' top assistant for the upcoming 2007 season under UAH Head Coach Lowell Mooneyham. With the Chargers, Royer's duties will include managing the pitching staff, recruiting and serving as the director of the UAH baseball camps.

Royer joins the Chargers' staff after helping lead West Alabama to back-to-back NCAA South Central Regional appearances in 2005 and 2006 along with the 2005 Gulf South Conference championship. While with the Tigers his duties included working with the UWA pitching staff in 2005.

A veteran amateur baseball coach spending more than eight years coaching summer teams, Royer spent the 2003 season coaching at Tuscaloosa County High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala. 1999 saw a Royer led Dixie Pre-Major State Championship team in Tennessee finish fifth in the World Series.

A 1995 graduate of Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, Tenn, Royer received a degree in Human Performance from the University of Alabama in August of 2003.

Recently married to the former Elisabeth Ashley, Royer and his wife reside in Huntsville.
